Katherine Tozduman
Founder & CEO
Book a meeting with KatherineHi, I am Kat, the owner of The Crafty Kit. But the truth is: I didn’t mean to start a business.
I was just trying to survive. At first, The Crafty Kit was never meant to be the thing. It started with a pile of leftover inventory, a pandemic, and a woman who couldn’t go back to corporate life without losing her mind.I had spent over a decade climbing the fashion retail ladder — from buying denim for Walmart to being chewed up and spit out by toxic offices that left me questioning my worth. I knew what it meant to burn out. I knew what it felt like to be dismissed, underestimated, and silenced in rooms I had every right to be in. I wasn’t sure what to do, but I knew I was creative, driven, and damn good at what I do. So, I ordered crafting materials online and started teaching classes.
It was the pandemic, and it seemed suddenly everyone was interested in my services. I felt so fulfilled by this new pivot — I was able to not only help people find fun at home with new projects, but find calm at the workplace without toxicity and drama with my new team-building offers. I finally felt like I found my place, my niche, and started to settle in and prepare to scale this new business. And then... I got cancer. Stage 4. Out of nowhere. The kind of diagnosis that forces you to stop everything and ask, What now? I couldn’t work. I couldn’t walk. I lost my hair, my energy, and the future I thought I was building. I had been prepping for IVF. Suddenly, I was prepping for a bone marrow transplant instead. But even in the worst of it — lying in a hospital bed, legs swollen, tubes in my arms — I kept running this business. I wasn’t hustling for the grind. I was holding on to something that made me feel like me. Because this isn’t just a business, it’s my escape. My purpose. My legacy. The Crafty Kit is where creativity meets nervous system regulation. It’s a small-but-mighty studio that delivers hands-on craft experiences to corporate teams, hospitals, schools, and anyone who needs a break from survival mode. We’ve worked with companies like Google, and we've hand-packed kits for veterans, neurodivergent adults, and people going through treatment — just like I did. We make candles. Plant terrariums. Resin bookmarks. But what we really make is space. Space to slow down. Space to breathe. Space to be human again.
Every kit is packed by hand — often by someone who’s been counted out before. (We partner with neurodivergent packaging teams and pay them real wages for their time and energy.) Every workshop is led with warmth, flexibility, and a deep understanding of what it’s like to be burned out and craving connection. And every time we show up for a team or community, we carry that same message:You deserve softness. You deserve creativity. You deserve a moment that’s yours. This business raised me back to life. Now I want it to raise something in you, too. Let’s make something beautiful — together.

Ersin Tozduman
Co-Founder & COO
Ersin’s path to becoming Co-Founder and COO wasn’t traditional. Before stepping into leadership, Ersin spent more than 15 years working in the plumbing industry, eventually running his own plumbing business. The experience taught him how to lead crews, solve problems under pressure, manage operations, and build systems that actually work in the real world. Those hands-on lessons would later become the foundation for how he approached scaling a creative business.
From the beginning, Ersin was always involved behind the scenes alongside Katherine. Whether it was brainstorming ideas, helping troubleshoot challenges, or lending another perspective, he naturally became part of the company’s growth. But his role shifted dramatically when Katherine was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
During that difficult period, Ersin stepped in full-time to help keep the business running. What began as supporting Katherine quickly evolved into leading operations, shipping, production, logistics, and day-to-day management. As he took more off Katherine’s plate, he began to see the full potential of the business, not just as a creative outlet, but as something capable of growing far beyond its original scope.
That transition became a turning point.
